It is true that the bible says that in the multitudes of counsellors, there is safety. Proverbs 11:14.

Note that there is no mention of good or bad counsellors, just multitudes of them.

Before I go on, let me share a variety of counsellors that came to my mind:

The Holy Spirit;

The Holy Bible;

Counsellors by profession;

Parents;

Spouse;

Friends;

Families;

Pastors;

Mentors; and

Children.

Therefore, in the multitudes of all of the above, you can never go wrong, right?

Of course there are two of them you can never go wrong with, if you listen and do as instructed:

The Holy Spirit.. after all Jesus says in John 14: 16 and I will send you the Advocate (The Holy Spirit) who will teach you all things and bring everything to your remembrance. One version refers to the Holy Spirit as Counsellor.

The Holy Bible. I am convinced because Joshua said that this book shall not depart from your mouth ….. you shall meditate in it day and night….and it will make your life prosperous and give you good success. Joshua 1:8.

It is good that we have access to all others as well because most of the time, they confirm what the holy spirit or the bible tells us – this subsequently lead us in the right direction.

Whatever counsel we receive, I want you to know that they are seeds, because they determine life and death. When I say life here, it may mean success. And death may mean failure. The good thing is when we realise we have failed and proceed to do right, it becomes life.

You may also agree with me that Faith comes by hearing – I am adding that by hearing and hearing and hearing – until it takes root.

So what seed do you allow into your mind?

Take caution on whom you receive counsel from and after receiving counsel, be careful and ensure a bad seed is not being planted on the soil of your mind. I say this because these counsels are seeds. Ensure you filter the seeds been planted in you the same way you filter the maize seeds in your hands to remove the bad ones before planting them.

Now let us look at Types/sources of Seeds

The three types/sources are:

Words;

Actions; and

Thoughts/Imaginations.

I recently had a chat with a friend who was expectant of something and someone told her: her husband is the person blocking this expectation. She immediately silenced the voice and spurned the words.

See, when we entertain negative counsel, unsolicited advice, words or voices, we may unconciously allow them to take root in the inside of us.

Every spoken words have the potential of becoming either a positive or negative seed on our soil – i.e. The Mind.

So also our actions, the group of people our actions may become deeply rooted seeds in their minds are Children. Unfortunately when they are very young, they are not able to filter away the actions that are wrong for them; because they may not know anyway. Their behaviours are shaped by the actions they see people around them exhibit. Actions, I reiterate, are seeds.

So also are thoughts/ imaginations. Hence it is very paramount that we bring our thoughts or imaginations under submission immediately we find negative ones, creeping into our minds. 2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV says casting down imaginations, and every high things that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Matshona Dhliwayo says “no matter how tall or wide a tree is, it started off a seed”.

Every word you hear from someone and speak to another, are seeds. Your actions are seeds and your thoughts/imaginations are. When you are able to ascertain a seed is not right for you….send it away immediately.
